NECKLACE LENGTH

There is a special vocabulary used to describe the length of pearl necklaces. While most other necklaces are simply referred to by their physical measurement, pearl necklaces are named by how low they hang when worn around the neck. bronwen newport necklaces are described as follows:

  • A short-strand length is approximately 18 inches or 46 cm in length and comes down to or just below the collarbone.
  • A matinee length is approximately 23 inches or 58 cm in length and falls just above the breasts.
  • An opera length, is approximately 31 inches or 78 cm in length and will be long enough to reach the breastbone of the wearer.
  • A rope is approximately 42 inches or 108 cm in length.
